All persons [hereafter referred to as “Customer(s)”] who hire Move Clean Organize LLC (hereafter referred to as “Mover”) and all affiliated contractors to perform your moving or junk removal service hereby agree to the following rules and disclaimers. It is assumed that the customer has read and understood these rules and disclaimers prior to the beginning of the job.
The Long Version:
1. Wall, trim, and paint damage secondary to oversize items: Customer understands that on many occasions, oversize furniture (e.g. sofas, appliances, full/queen size box springs, and armories) will not easily fit through small hallways, stairwells, and doorways, especially in older homes and apartments built prior to the 1970s. Mover will notify the customer of such circumstances prior to attempting any task that may put furniture or paint at risk, and will not be held liable if damage is caused thereafter
2. Appliances and other electronic devices: Mover will not be held liable for any internal components of an appliance and/or electronic device. When moving appliances & electronics, it may be necessary to tilt or turn them in a position that is other than upright. Furthermore, vibrations of the moving truck during transport may loosen internal components.
3. Plywood/pressed wood/particle board: Items such as bookshelves, dressers, bed frames, TV stands, and other furniture made from these materials will not be covered under any circumstances. Mover will make its best faith effort to transport such items, however customer understands that they are not manufactured to withstand the forces associated with lifting and transporting them, and risk being damaged in the process.
4. Disconnection or connection of any appliance or electronic item: Customer understands that water or plumbing damage may result to the premises or adjacent premises if appliances are not properly disconnected prior to the move. We are not professional plumbers, therefore Mover cannot be held responsible for any damage to property resulting from the connection or disconnection of items such as, but not limited to, clothes washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and water coolers. Similarly, mover may assist with dismounting and mounting of TVs, however will not be held liable for damage to walls or electronics that may result from doing so.
5. PBO (Packed By Owner): Customer acknowledges that Mover is not responsible for damage to the contents of any container that has been packed by the mover, except in cases of willful mishandling. This includes boxes, totes, bags, and furniture that contains household goods (such as clothes inside of dressers). We highly recommend emptying the contents of your dressers to ensure the safety of our helpers, as well as your furniture.
6. Valuables: Mover has limited liability for items of “extraordinary” value including, but not limited to, coins, currency, jewelry, stocks, bonds, precious metals, legal documents, or items of personal value. Mover highly recommends these items be transported personally by the Customer. Mover assumes no liability for these items whatsoever if they are not disclosed by the Customer prior to the move.
7. Pre-Move Administrative Tasks: It is the Customer’s responsibility to reserve elevators and/or loading docks, as well as notify the mover in advance if a property requires a certificate of liability insurance or other documentation. Mover will not be held responsible for any delays related to such omissions.
8. Customers assisting movers: Mover understands that the Customer may wish to assist with the move. This is generally acceptable; however, please note that doing so will void any and all potential damage claims for items that a Customer has assisted with. Also, Move Clean Organize LLC cannot be held responsible for any moving-related injuries sustained by persons not employed by Move Clean Organize LLC.
9. Potential for delays: Mover is not required to 'stop the clock' due to weather conditions or other natural phenomena/acts of God that may hamper the progress of the job, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, or wind. The same is true for unforeseen traffic, building construction, elevator issues, and other delays that are beyond the mover's control.
10. Inspection of truck at the conclusion of move: Customer has the right and responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire moving truck to ensure none of their items have been inadvertently left behind. This process must be performed before the truck leaves the destination site.
11. Missing items: In the interest of saving time and money for both mover and customer, mover does not take inventory of items to be moved. Since January 2016, Move Clean Organize LLC has built a foundation of trust with the community, and we are confident that all loaded items will be delivered accordingly. If you have reasonable cause to believe an item has been willfully stolen by our company, please contact the owner/manager, or file a report with local police if necessary.
12. Cargo Insurance - Simple Valuation: In the event a item covered by the above policies is significantly damaged, either due to negligence or a simple accident, your items will be valued at $0.60 per pound by estimated weight. Example: if a couch weighing approximately 70 pounds is damaged by us, Mover will reduce the final bill by $42. Mover and customer understand that this may not be a sufficient protection program for items of higher value. If you require additional insurance, please visit www.movinginsurance.com and provide our name and license number: Move Clean Organize LLC, CT HHG License #1784, USDOT#3361282.
13: Time charged: Chargeable hours begin when the moving truck and/or helpers arrive at the job site, and end when all items have been moved to the final destination. This includes driving time between locations. If a job is anticipated to take longer than six (6) hours, helpers are entitled to a 30 minute paid lunch break, which is included in the total chargeable hours.
14: Payment: Payment in full is due upon completion of the job; credit will not be extended under any circumstances. Mover accepts cash, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, and Major Credit Cards [credit card incurs a 3.5% fee]. Personal checks will only be accepted on a conditional basis; customer must show good cause for use of a personal check (example: paying from a conservatorship account for an estate cleanout).
Changes may be made to this agreement at any time. If you have any questions, please contact us at (860) 944-4992 or email us at movecleanorganize@yahoo.com. Please note that the above rules and disclaimers are commensurate with common standards for the household goods moving industry.
The Short Version:
We are a budget-level, small moving company with very reasonable rates, and we hope our customers will be reasonable in return. Moving is an inexact science - even when employing all proper handling techniques and safety practices, there will always remain some level of risk when household goods are moved and/or transported.
Still, we are reasonable and decent people. If an unexpected incident occurs on the job, the best course of action is to speak with the owner or crew manager. Usually, we are able to come to a resolution that is fair to all parties.
