After reading, please email or text us with your full name, stating that you have read and understood the following disclaimers, which are commensurate with the standards of the freight and moving industry in the United States. Once you have sent your confirmation, this creates an implied contract as stipulated below:
All persons [hereafter referred to as “Customer(s)”] who hire Move Clean Organize LLC of Berlin, Connecticut, CT HHG License #1784, USDOT#3361282 (hereafter referred to as “Mover”) to perform moving or junk removal services agree to the following:
1. Wall, trim, and paint damage secondary to oversize items: Customer understands that on many occasions, oversize furniture (e.g. sofas, appliances, full/queen size box springs, and armories) will not easily fit through small hallways, stairwells, and doorways, especially in older homes and apartments built prior to the 1970s. Mover will notify the customer of such circumstances prior to attempting any task that may put furniture or paint at risk, and will not be held liable if damage is caused thereafter.
2. Appliances and other electronic devices: Mover will not be held liable for any component of an appliance or electronic device. Mover will make a "best faith effort" to safely transport and protect these items, but we highly recommend transporting them yourself if possible. Most modern TVs are very thin and fragile - please provide the original box if possible for maximum protection.
3. Plywood/pressed wood/particle board: Items such as bookshelves, dressers, beds, and other furniture made from these materials will not be covered under any circumstance. As is true with electronics, Mover will make its best faith effort to transport these items, however customer understands that they are simply not manufactured to withstand the forces associated with lifting and transporting them.
4. Disconnection or connection of any appliance or electronic item: Appliances must be properly disconnected prior to the move. Mover cannot be held responsible for any damage to property resulting from the connection or disconnection of clothes washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, water coolers, or other freon-based devices. Similarly, mover may assist with dismounting and mounting of TVs, however has zero liability for damage to walls or electronics that may result from doing so.
5. PBO (Packed By Owner): Customer acknowledges that Mover is not responsible for damage to the contents of any container that has been packed by the mover, except in cases of willful mishandling. This includes boxes, totes, bags, and furniture that contains household goods (such as clothes inside of dressers). We highly recommend emptying the contents of your dressers to ensure the safety of your furniture and our helpers.
6. Pre-Move Administrative Tasks: It is the Customer’s responsibility to reserve elevators and/or loading docks, as well as notify the mover in advance if a property requires a certificate of liability insurance or other documentation. Mover will not be held responsible for any delays related to such omissions.
7. Customers assisting movers: This is generally acceptable, however please note that doing so will void any and all potential damage claims for items handled by the customer. Further, Move Clean Organize LLC cannot be held responsible for any moving-related injuries sustained by persons not employed by Move Clean Organize LLC.
8. Potential for delays: Mover is not required to 'stop the clock' due to weather conditions or other natural phenomena/acts of God that may hamper the progress of the job, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, or wind. The same is true for unforeseen traffic, building construction, elevator issues, and other delays that are beyond the mover's control.
10. Inspection of truck at the conclusion of move: Customer has the right and responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire moving truck to ensure none of their items have been inadvertently left behind. This process must be performed before the truck leaves the destination site.
11. Missing items: In the interest of saving the customer time and money, mover does not take inventory of items to be moved. Since January 2016, Move Clean Organize LLC has built a foundation of trust with the local community, and we are confident that all loaded items will be delivered accordingly. If you have reasonable cause to believe an item has been willfully stolen, please contact the owner/manager, or file a report with local police if necessary.
12. INSURANCE & "RELEASED VALUE PROTECTION:" If significant damage is caused to a customer's item, and the customer has not purchased third-party insurance, customer will be reimbursed according to its "released value" at the industry standard of $0.60 per pound. Example: if a couch weighing approximately 80 pounds is damaged, mover will reduce the final bill by $48.
IMPORTANT: IT IS THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE THEIR MOVE AS NECESSARY. CUSTOMER UNDERSTANDS RELEASED VALUE PROTECTION IS A BASIC LEVEL OF CARGO INSURANCE, AND MAY NOT BE SUFFICIENT FOR ITEMS OF HIGHER VALUE. ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO ANY ITEM, REGARDLESS OF INSURANCE STATUS, IS NOT A VALID REASON TO WITHHOLD PARTIAL OR FULL PAYMENT OF THE FINAL INVOICE.
More info on released value protection can be found here: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/consumer-protection/protect-your-move/are-you-moving/liability-protection#released].
More info on third-party cargo insurance can be found here: (note, Move Clean Organize LLC has no affiliation with movinginsurance.com or its providers) https://www.movinginsurance.com/policyapp/personal_info.asp?Type=Dom
13. Counting Hours/Logistics: The clock starts when the moving truck and/or helpers arrive at the loading point, and ends when the last item is delivered/assembled at the final destination. Time will be counted by the quarter hour (ever 15 minutes), with driving time in between locations included in the total billable hours. Customer understands that many logistical factors can greatly affect total move time, including long hallways/walkways, elevators, flights of stairs, physical obstacles, uncleared furniture, inaptly packed containers, and trash or other obstructions that may prevent Mover's employees from working efficiently.
14. Summary: We are a small moving business with an excellent reputation and very reasonable rates (See our Google reviews!). We kindly ask our customers to be civil and reasonable in return, even in the case of accidental damage. Moving is an inexact science - even when employing all proper techniques, there always remains some level of risk to your items. Again, it is the customer's responsibility to insure their possessions as necessary.
You made it to the end! Thank you for reading, and we look forward to helping you.
